Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers Australian women can develop. One in eight women are diagnosed by the age of 85. During October the PSA are highlighting the ongoing battle to find cures for breast and gynaecological cancers and to support women suffering from these. This week’s informative Health Column outlines the different types of gynaecological cancer and the risk factors for developing breast cancer and gynaecological cancer. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and Cancer Council of Australia and many other charities are raising awareness of this through Pink Ribbon Day. This year they are asking women to get involved with a Girls Night In fundraising event, any time in October. The aim is to raise funds to support the many thousands of Australian women affected by breast and gynaecological cancers. Cancer Council Australia aims to minimise the threat of women’s cancers through successful prevention, best treatment, support and world-class cancer research. |
